26 February Winter holiday activity – The cat and the barrel
Friday1 pm. Come to Fredriksdal and play traditional games to the accompaniment of great music! The highlight will be “The cat and the barrel”, with the selection of a Cat King or Cat Queen. During the Middle Ages, Shrovetide was a period of a few days when people ate special food, danced and played different kinds of Lenten games. The idea was to enjoy yourself to the full and indulge in rich, fatty foods before "mortifying the flesh" during the long fast before Easter.
APRIL
1 April – Easter fun
The Fredriksdal hags welcome all little Easter witches and warlocks to a great, traditional Easter party. Each child should bring along colourful bits of material, 30 x 3 cm, two hard-boiled, unpainted eggs, and some kind of rattling instrument. We’ll be painting eggs, playing egg games, having our faces painted, meeting the wise witch, doing "eggsperiments" and visiting the animals.
7 April – Livestock walk
The museum farmers Bo Dahlgren and Katarina Hagelberg will guide you around the stables, talk about the animals, their history and about the work done to preserve the species living at Fredriksdal.
28 April – Livestock walk for children
